A sexy dilemma for “My Sexy Saturday”

This week’s My Sexy Saturday theme is A Sexy Dilemma. According to the organizers, it “can take on the form of just about anything…a mystery, a date…just anything your heart desires.” Not surprisingly, Buck, Naked is full of dilemmas. Finding a sexy one was a bit difficult, though, considering how many of the characters’ problems involve deadly enemies, serious personal crises, or for extra angst, both at once. But I think the excerpt below will do. They’re hiding out, waiting for their transport off a dangerous planet, but right now they’re safe–except from each other.

Cover of BUCK, NAKED. Attractive black woman on a starry, science-fiction background. By KanaxaExcerpt:

The air felt thick, humid, sultry, although it was as cool and dry as usual within the cave. She forced her gaze away from Buck’s lips, but couldn’t look away from him altogether…and any other part of him was even deadlier than his mouth. Those devastating eyes. Those shoulders. And stars, the evidence of his interest in her, hard and swollen in the front of his pants

“Your horrors want us to have sex? That doesn’t sound flattering.” She thought she knew what he meant, but she had to make a joke out of it.  She’d been fighting the same eerie sense of rightness all day and if she didn’t tease, didn’t put up a little playful distance, she’d tumble into his arms.

But why shouldn’t she? He knew what she was. She knew what he was. She wasn’t going to hurt him, even if she had an ill-timed flashback. He was almost as fast as she was and even stronger, since his augmentations had a bigger, more powerful body as a starting place. She’d already figured how to help him redirect his Seera-head before things got too ugly, so he wasn’t likely to hurt her.

“I ain’t great with words.” He held up his hands, a masculine gesture of helplessness that she liked under the circumstances. “It ain’t the horrible part of the horrors talking to me, if you know what I mean. More like that thing I was telling you about where I can see things a bit before they actually happen. I’m seeing us being good together.”

Just like she had been. She lowered her voice to a sultry pitch. “My instincts agree with yours, and I’ve had plenty of time to learn how to judge when my instincts are good. But until you said something, I couldn’t believe they’d finally point out something fun instead of a potential danger.”

She drew closer to Buck. It reminded her of moving on a high-gravity planet. Every step felt heavy and full of portents. There must have been some transition, some moment when she and Buck made the decision to stop being two separate beings and join together.

But Aleema, keenly observant though she usually was, couldn’t have said when that moment took place. All she knew was that she and Buck were plastered against each other’s bodies, his lips on hers and his hands on her body, taking off her top without any awkwardness, any delay. “You are so beautiful,” he breathed as he cupped her breasts, ran his rough thumbs over her nipples. “Want you so much.”

Blurb:
To save him, she must strip him bare.
Security expert Buck’s senses are inhumanly keen, to the point he can see through time and space, and that’s just the start of his odd abilities—thank you, alien captors. He also experiences paranoia, flashbacks, and the occasional hallucination—thank you, PTSD. No wonder he fears he could hurt one of the Malcolm crewmates he lives to protect, the closest thing to family he has left after the destruction of his home planet.
Brilliant scientist Aleema can teach him how to use his modifications without triggering  PTSD. She’s survived the same meddling aliens and suffered even more dramatic alterations. At least her unwanted immortality means she’s had time to figure out how the modifications work and use the knowledge to aid other survivors. Helping Buck means spending some serious time together.

Time enough to fall in love.

Just as happiness seems within their grasp, Aleema realizes one of Buck’s modifications dooms him to an unthinkable future. To save him, she must place herself in the hands of their common enemy and leave Buck to face his worst fears without her.
